II. Martin Luther helped Pracht to overcome earlier Bracht in Standard NHG.
MHG braht 'noise, commotion', brach 'crash'; from OHG braht, praht.
III. OE breahtm, bearhtm 'cry, noise'. Related to [[ברעכן]].
from PIE ✱bhreǵ- 'to break, crash'; cf. Latin frangere 'to break'.
