The meaning equivalency with Polish odcinać may have contributed to the pattern seen in אָפּעסן 'to eat (to the end)', אָפּטרינקען 'to drink (to the end), to drink a sip', אָפּדאַוונען 'to finish praying', אָפּפֿאַסטן 'to break a fast'.
